That was me about 20 years ago. It is fun for a while, competed in State/National level tournaments, then one day the switch was set to off and I have never been fishing since. Sold the go fast boat, bought a runabout and take people skiing. I have thought about getting back into fishing again, I really do enjoy(ed) it, matching wits with the fish/environment. Many trophy fish on my office wall .... :cool"

BTW, I don't drink either ....

I did a 6 hour charter in the backwaters of Naples/Marco Island last month. Fishing was great, the three of us must have caught well over 100 fish. We took our limit of Red Snapper to a local restaurant and had them prepare it blackened and jalapeno crusted...best fish I ever had. If I spent more time down there I would get my own boat but I can't justify it yet.

Did you know it takes a 4 part video for someone to say use Windex to clean your windows.

Yeah, the fishing down here in those backwaters IS great. Why i'm getting inspired again. A friend told me once he had a boat but got rid of it. I asked him why and he said, "A boat's just a hole in the water that you fill with all your money."

The democrat party is the most successful hate group. It attracts poor people who hate rich people, black people who hate white people, gay people who hate straight people, feminists who hate men, environmentalists who hate the internal combustion engine, and a lot of bratty college kids who hate their parents. However, the real secret of the party's success is that it attracts the support of journalists who hate Republicans, and who therefore work tirelessly to convince the rest of us that we should vote for democrats.

Out of Galveston, that must be into the Gulf... grouper? One of the best things about living on the gulf for me is the grouper... I eat it by the pound.

I would think that competitive fishing is like competitive eating.
Not sure if it is something I'd be into. Fishing for me is about what you said, matching wits with the fish/ environment. Making a good guess as to where the fish are, then making a great cast to get the hook right where you want it...then getting that hit.
Although with my addictive personality, if I did get involved with competitive fishing, I'd go all out...it's what I do.

We like the Red Drum, Sheepshead, Shark, and the occasional Ling.. We usually stay in the bay, sometimes slip out into the gulf though. SIL caught a 75lb Stingray one day, wow, that one took a while.
