I have been looking around on Various Car Forums other than Corvette Based & Facebook.
Many Car Guys & Drag racers are on Facebook now.
Facebook is nice because you can reach Hundreds of thousands or Millions of Viewers & Bypass all the Bad Moderators like on DC & Grumpys.

The Guys are starting to get Fucken $$$$ Cash again.
Drag Racing is In.
Street Racing is In.
The Prize is Racing the Hellcats on the Streets & Winning. Fucken You Tube your Victory.

Now the High Dollar guys as a group never ever Race.
Buy shit & do not Race.
Fucken Gay.

The MECHANICS All Love to Race.
Its in our Blood.

No Matter what you build, Corvette. LSX. Pontiac V8. Oldsmobile V8. Buick V8. Ford Winsdor V8. Ect..
You Need a Bullet Proof Transmission.
Muncie 4-speed will work yet still in 2017.
But many prefer automatics. I like them too.

GM Overdrive transmissions are expensive to buy built up. And HP Torque capacity is limited.
4L80E & 4L85E will work if you have the Funds.
Something to keep in mind 1/8 mile & 1/4 mile racing is you never use Overdrive 4th.
1st gear, 2nd gear, & 3rd direct high gears only.

The Turbo 350 & Turbo 400 are still KING.
I encourage you to look around and stock up on the TH350 & TH400 transmissions.
The Turbo 400 is highly prized now.
By the Ford & Mopar Guys too now.
They found out they are superior transmissions and using them in 1,000 -4,000 HP cars.

I will be covering my 1963 Grand Prix Turbo 400 trans buildup soon with a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Turbo 400 core. Code PR from a 1969 G.P. 428 HO 390 HP car.
Ordered my New Moroso TH 400 Fabricated aluminum TIG welded trans pan yesterday & other goodies.

Especially when tricked out with a button and an extra two plates in the clutch. Awesome tranny, ran them in dirt cars for years....

I was thinking Heavy Street cars Vette Newb.
3,200-4200 lbs.
300-800-1000 HP or more.

Also the Torque converter selection for TH350 & TH 400 Are excellent . Interchange between transmissions .
Affordable for the Little guys coming.out.of the Obama Recession era into rhe Prosperous Trump Era.

When you do the Math....
$10-30 k for an engine,
$5K- 10 K for a Transmission,
$5K -10 k for a Rear Differential,
Rebuild the car suspension, Body and paint...$5k -50k ....
Interuor redo, latest toys goodies...
And the guy is earning $15-25 per hour.
House Mortgage.
Rent.
Car payment .
Wife & kids to feed and clothe.

Well......Pri Touring way just not affordable.

I would say the 700R4 when built correctly is a great street/strip choice. I love the turbo 400, but 3 gears = lots of gas for cruising around. Great tranny for adding HP to the mix. Had several in 3/4 and 1 ton pickups back in the day. Pulled a 60 trailer house out of a hole and a few miles down the road with a 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 - 350/Turbo 400, 4:11 gears. Not fast, but would literally pull a house.

The 700R4 & 4L60E Transmissions are near identical .
4L60E shifts are external Black Box controlled.
They are reliable built right to 400-450 HP max.
Always a risk of something may break .
They live happiest at 250-375 hp built up.

The internal gear train of a Turbo 400 is Huge in size.
700R4 & 4L60E are small compared side by side.
The 4L80E is based off the TH400 But is electronic shift also. Takes more money to pull off sucessful install.
If you look at extra cost in gasoline and miles driven per year....The Turbo 400 & 350 not so bad. Low cost to rebuild & buildup still attractive .
Very strong.

The TH400 IS good for 400-450 HP bone stock.
Stock rebuild done yourself is about $200.00.

Pretty good budget 4-speeds.
Work nice in 1975-81 Pontiac Trans Ams with Soft camshaft profiles Ponch.

If it will quit raining, the guys are coming to pour the slab for my shop. I am putting in a 2 post lift so I can do the LS swap myself. I have a 4L80E mated to the LS now, but the 3-4 clutch pack is stuck from setting 10 months in the impound lot. GM tranny's hate to sit idle..

Gotta send it back to the builder 1st thing, while I take the JKU apart. Hoping to get started ASAP as I have a Jeep event on Crystal Beach in May. :D
