I Raced a 5.0 Mustang last night on the way home from Joliet on Route 80.
We were following each other for 20 minutes.
70 mile ride home .
I was doing 90 cruising and the 5.0 was about 1000 feet back.
I gave up the idea he wanted to race.
Nice clean looking 1988 Mustang 5.0 and sounded strong with 350-400 Hp.
I heard a Roar looked in the mirror and he was charging fast around 130.
I stood on it and got up to 115 but he passed.
He was ahead but I gained ground fast doing 145.
Semi trucks ahead in both lanes so we both hit the brakes.
We cruised together fot the next 10 minutes.
I got ahead and the 5.0 Followed.
I cut throught the traffic weaving around at 90.
We had about 1-1/2 miles clear blacktop ahead no traffic.
I slowed down to 70 and let the 5.0 get side by side.
I nodded & we both jumped on it at the same time.
It was a Dead Neck Race up to 130.
I started gaining ground about 1/2 car length.
He backed off.
Braked. So did I. We looked at each other And he Gave me a thumbs up.
He then turned off on the Exit Ramp.

It was A Fun Race.

I guess that ended up being the difference of a boring ride and a fun ride home

When it's time to fight, you fight like you're the third monkey on the ramp to Noah's ark and brother, it's starting to rain.

We apparently had the same exact Power To Weight Ratio.
The C4 is very Aerodynamic. The Edge I had to Win.

Too many other projects going on.
Love to give my C4 Vette 1,000 Hp.

Nice sounds like a good ride. Yes over 100mph aero becomes a big thing. Lot of thoughts on what I can do to overcome this but in 1971 they were not concerned unless it was a nascar model car. Wind shields and grills become air brakes much harder to push through. High speed racing keeps you young adrenalin cleaning out the arteries with extra blood flow good to be alive and even better to feel alive!! Sure he was happy to run with a corvette.

I bought a 1988 Mustang GT with 25.000 miles in 1991 and it was the worst car I ever owned. I made two payments on it and got rid of it. It constantly got vapor lock on hot days and would just shut down. I replaced a ton of stuff until they quoted me a price for the in tank fuel pump replacement..... it was time to ditch the car.

Did you know it takes a 4 part video for someone to say use Windex to clean your windows.

I really Love my C4 Corvette.
It has been one of the best Street Cars I have ever bought.
1987 was a Good Model Year.

Replace the original Bilstein Shocks next.

Need to upgrade power to modern levels.
Best way I know how using all OEM Block, Crankshaft, and Cast Heads and spending less than $5,000 is a Pontiac V8 or a BBC.

The more Hp and Torque you make the greater the need for a Bullet Proof Transmission and Rear Differential.

Your finding that out John yourself.
